Norfolk Natural Living Logo

Norfolk Natural Living was created by Bella Middleton and is a slow-luxury home care and wellbeing brand, designed to bring a little beauty and even pleasure to our daily rituals.

As a trained aromatherapist, Bella has always been fascinated with the benefits plants can have on our wellbeing. Which is why we have put nature and craftsmanship at the core of Norfolk Natural Living.

They bottle every formulation by hand and use only natural ingredients formulated with therapeutic blends, designed to improve your wellbeing.

Their workshop is nestled in a small historic town in Norfolk, England. Surrounded by the beautifully scented lavender fields and white sandy beaches for which the Norfolk landscape is famous. Their all-natural range is the embodiment of Bella's passion for the Norfolk countryside and coast which is a constant source of inspiration.

All of their products are biodegradable, non-toxic, free from chlorine and bleach, use plant based ingredients and are gentle enough for even a baby's delicate skin and it goes without saying we would never test on animals.

It’s important that Norfolk Natural Living is respectful and sensitive to the beautiful English countryside. And this all starts with what they put into their natural cleaning products (as well as the things they don’t put in them).

Led by the stunning natural landscape that surrounds their Norfolk workshop, their recipes wield the power of plants and botany.

Every ingredient that they use in their luxury garment care and homewares collection is chosen with care and consideration. They wanted everything to be safe for use around pets, children and those with sensitive skin or allergies. So they left out chlorine, petroleum, phosphate, phthalate,  bleach and artificial colours that are so prevalent in standard household products. The result of their research is a meticulously developed plant-based edit for the home.

Ingredients they don't use

Our skin has a lot to cope with in our daily lives, and chemicals are abundant in many household cleaners and laundry products. We’ve worked hard to eliminate these harsh ingredients from our products, so you won’t find any of them in our bottles.

OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS: These are chemicals used to give the appearance of brightness in your white linen. Whilst it makes your washing line look instagram-worthy, they bioaccumulate and are harmful to aquatic life when they enter the waterways. They also can cause skin irritation.

CHLORINE: Found in most conventional detergents to eliminate bacteria, chlorine fumes can be extremely harmful when ingested. Particularly for those with respiratory problems.

PETROLEUM DERIVED ADDITIVES: Used to dissolve away dirt, these preservatives are toxic and are a big culprit for allergic reactions.

PHTHALATES: Found in air fresheners and dish soap, Phthalates are endocrine disruptors. This means that they interfere with normal hormonal function in humans.

TITANIUM DIOXIDE: This is traditionally used to enhance brightness in fabrics, and help to resist natural fading. As well as being found in cleaning products, it’s also prevalent in cosmetics, medicine and paint. Nanoparticles of titanium dioxide have classified by theIARC as a Group 2B carcinogen.

GMOs: Traditionally used in cosmetics instead of palm oil, there’s been relatively little research on these Genetically Modified Organisms. So the safety of using them is still under debate.

PHOSPHATES: Using these at all in cleaning products in the UK is illegal, after it was found that it creates an ‘algae bloom’ when a high concentration of it enters water. Put simply, it forces plants to overgrow and limits the oxygen supply.

METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE: A preservative used in cosmetics, it can often cause contact dermatitis.

TALLOW: Derived from rendered beef or mutton, it is sourced from intensively farmed animals.

SODIUM TALLOWATE: Another ingredient derived from rendered animal fat, water and caustic soda.

TRICLOSAN: Used for its antibacterial properties, it’s another endocrine disruptor which is bad news for humans and animals. It’s also thought that overuse of products that contain these contribute to bacterial resistance.

BENZISOTHIAZOLINONE: Prevalent in many household cleaners and paint, it’s a common skin irritant for those with sensitive skin.

SODIUM LAURYL ETHER SULPHATES (SLES): Banned by The Soil Association due to its carcinogenic properties
